Ladakh Day 7: Hiking

Today’s weather report:

We are at around 5,000m today at the basecamp, but the plan is to head higher. The plan is to go all the way to 6,000m on Stok Kang Ri, a full 1,000m above basecamp! Last year’s group didn’t make it very far… I’m not sure how well my group will be coping at this point. Hopefully I’ll still be able to make it up as high as the rest! Not sure if the dreaded Altitude Sickness will have struck by then or not. Pretty much all of us have this drug called Diamox with us to help reduce/relieve the symptoms of altitude sickness… the only thing is it’s a diuretic and so we’re only supposed to take it if we need it and even then there’s no guarantee we’ll be able to keep climbing once we’ve taken it. In all expectations we should head back down once we start needing Diamox, for safety reasons.

I really hope we’re all doing well.

Wish us luck to get above 5,500m!! šŸ˜€
