Just about to get dressed and order a taxi to head over to tutor again, should be alright. The hard part will be getting her to focus. Poor kid has so much tuition, I worry if she’ll ever think for herself- or at least if her parents will ever let her think for herself.
It’s a strange society we live in here in Singapore. I’m sure it’s similar to any other society that is driven to be the best. There’s probably a whole lot of people in the world that are just like the people here in Singapore, but I’ve not heard much about them.
So the plan is to work, then go to school and do revision, then head out for sushi dinner with my friends. I’m quite excited for today, it’s going to be so lovely. 🙂
If this is what University is like then I swear I’m ready for it. I just need to improve my time management… and probably my ability to save up. Saving up for Greece is easy, but general savings… I’m not as good with that. I can save and save and save until I have $700 sitting there… then summer will come and BOOM all gone by the end of the holidays. It’s not a great way to earn and spend…
Oh well, I guess I’ll learn some day! 🙂
Gotta go! Write later! 🙂

I just got my dad to watch “Fight Club”! Yes, you heard me right! My dad! MINE! Watching “Fight Club”!!!!
He thought it was good!! CAN I GET A HALLELUJAH! Hahaha! My dad was so dead against watching it, I couldn’t even get him to read it! I’ve been begging him to watch it since when I studied for the first time in 2011!
This is the same book that I did a presentation on back in 2011, my first ever IB exam. English Lit. Aced that shit. Got a level 7!! Did my presentation on religion in “Fight Club” and I have to say it’s probably one of my most favourite assignments ever done! (Even though I had to give up my actual birthday to work on it, and I mean the entire day… Oh well, time well spent, clearly!)
The movie is just as good as the book (something that can very rarely be said of movies based on books- or as I like to say “VERY LOOSELY based on books… we used the characters names… enjoy”), but “Fight Club”- despite the obvious, for those that have seen it, is very close to the original text.
If I had to chose, I’d still probably say the book is better… but only by a smidgen. That is huge coming from a book lover like myself. So yeah.
My dad didn’t want to watch it because he didn’t want to watch “mindless violence” and it has taken months to convince him that it’s not actually about the fighting, but about the screw-with-your-head, roller-coaster-psychology of the premise.
Love, love, LOVE Palahniuk. Fucked up genius that he is. I don’t even know what could possibly influence a guy to write such trippy stuff, but let me be the first to recommend it!! My dad’s a pilot and I swear I’ll never see the oxygen masks (or safety brochures for that matter) the same ever again.
I really want to read his other stuff, “Choke” for instance, or “Lullaby”. I’ll get around to it after graduation I reckon. Can’t freaking wait!
Other stuff that’s happened today. Well, I tutored today, earned some cash (woo!), paid back some money I owed my mum and have officially got the money to go out for dinner tomorrow night. Yay me! Whatever is left will go towards Greece.
I better go now, do all the pre-bed rituals, maybe cram some more essay work in… but I have to get up before 11am tomorrow (**groans**) because I’m tutoring again (whoopwhoop!) so more money for Greece!!!
All in all, today has been a great day! Very productive and very pleasant.
G’night everyone and I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend! 😀

I appear to have been leading myself (and thus you all) into delusion about exactly how much money I’d have been earning on the nannying gig.
Turns out mum didn’t say $3,000… she said $300. Somewhere a “0” was added in the translation. That’s a pretty significant difference.
Is giving up the India trip worth staying in Singapore for a measly $300? Sure it’d be a great help… but let’s be honest, if I just start some of my other jobs *earlier* (like… this weekend), then I might be able to make up (if not *more*) the “losses”.
Frankly I don’t know how the whole nannying business would go down. Let’s be honest, a solid night of babysitting in Singapore could fetch you… what… $30-$50 a night? So if I were to say they paid me that per night I was nanny… I’d be earning between $630-$1,050? Ish?
No doubt any money helps. All the jobs I can get will be the boost I need. But maybe… if the jobs I’ll be losing are not as income-worthy as I originally thought then I might be able to go to Ladakh?
Maybe I’ll be able to do it all?
I spoke to my mum about it earlier… she corrected my money mistake and said that if I can get the Alumni Grant then I can go.
To hell with it, I’m applying.
Wish me luck! 😀
