GoodReads Can Read My Mind…

I get a daily quote from this FABULOUS reading website called GoodReads (I’ve been on it so many times that if I type “g” into my url bar it comes up with “” before it comes up with “”). I was feeling particularly down in the dumps today and I just opened my emails to find this quote:

I’ve known people that the world has thrown everything at to discourage them…to break their spirit. And yet something about them retains a dignity. They face life and don’t ask quarters.

Horton Foote

March 14, 1916: Horton Foote was born 97 years ago today in Wharton, Texas. He won an Oscar for his adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird.

So yes. I must carry on with a renewed spirit. I refuse to let life beat me. I will not roll over and die at the hands of IB. I am going to fight. Only 48 days until the exams start. (And 3 school weeks left as my asshole of a Head of Year keeps fucking reminding us…. every damn week he comes to the assembly with the bullshit line “I won’t keep doing the countdown every week but…” UGH! I nearly walked out when he did it today. I sooo wanted to just stand up and leave– unfortunately I don’t have as much spine as I wish I had… maybe next week? :P)

ANYWAY I am going to be strong enough to hold my head high in these last few weeks until the exams are over. When it’s all over, then I can lose my shit and cry and sleep, but until then it’s head-down studying and WINNING. Positive thoughts.
