Why Greece?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of one place. Greece.

My passion was sparked back in 2002 (I was 7 or 8 years old) when we started studying the Ancient Egyptians in class for history. The world of the ancients enthralled me and when we studied the Ancient Greeks my fate was sealed.

I’m currently freshly 18 and am about to apply to University in 2013 to do “Ancient History and Archaeology” in Australia. Ancient Greece has always been my passion and funnily enough it’s one of the places my family and I have yet to visit. So I’ve decided to take my life into my own hands and set myself a goal… well I decided a couple of years ago, but now I’m actually beginning my journey.

I want to raise enough money for myself to travel around and see all the Ancient monuments that Greece has to offer. It will be a solo trip, my big burst onto the scene. My plan is to go backpacking across this fantastic country, meet new people, learn a LOT of new things about my favourite civilisation, and learn what it is really like to be an independent traveller.

This blog is basically my attempt to track my path from dream to reality, there is still a lot (read: everything) to be organised and dealt with. I will try to update this from now, all the way up to and during my Greece trip, so if you love Greece as much as I do, follow my blog and all tips and tricks about backpacking/ travelling around Greece/ anything of the like, is very very welcome! Thanks!
